The VW Golf Twist - New entry-level Golf
When times are tough car buyers look to save wherever they can. And many new car buyers will forsake the more premium marques in order to save a few bob, and instead look at capable but less appealing makers. Which probably goes some way to explaining the new VW Golf Twist which takes over as the entry-level Golf from the Golf S.
The Maybach 57S Coupe by Xenatec
Regular readers will know that we gave due warning back in March that Maybach was going to be allowed to wither on the vine rather than get new models, apart from a run-out Maybach Coupe based on the Maybach 57S and ‘produced’ by German firm Xenatec. Mercedes refuted our story about the Maybach badge being allowed to die again soon after the story ran (although there were rumblings at Paris last week that Mercedes has lost patience with Maybach. We’ll see), but what we did get was an official announcement that there will indeed be 100 Maybach 57S Coupes built by Xantech and that they will costs a rather large €675,000.

Ambitious SsangYong is targeting down-sizing drivers with its new CX200. The Toyota RAV4-size SUV is the first front-wheel drive car from the Korean concern. Crucially for its continued advancement it’s also the platform used to demonstrate a new 175bhp 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine, a new six-speed manual transmission and intelligent four-wheel drive.
